Unity 5 Release and you get all the features for free, just as Unreal Engine 4 becomes free as well

Unity 5 just got release a bit ago and even the free Version (Personal Edition) includes all of the technical features of Unity Pro. So they did finally react to the cheap subscription fee that had many people go to Unreal Engine 4.
Unity 5 Professional Edition offers extended support and services, better team features, monthly free assets, access to beta version, the source code and more.

So far I haven’t had any problems letting Unity upgrade my old projects and automatically converting settings and code to the new conventions (aside from some third party plugins).

Shortly before this there was an announcement that Unreal Engine 4 is now also free.

So now Game Developers and other  visual simulations developers both as a hobby and professionals have all the options available and can choose whatever they like to make awesome things.
This can only be a good thing and I’m looking forward to the amazing things this will bring us. And obviously my own development efforts. đŸ˜‰
