Final Fantasy XIV

MMOSite has an article with a lengthy (over an hour long) in-game alpha footage recorded by an alpha tester.

The graphics look much better in motion then they have in the screenshots I looked at.

Suppose to be another open skill system game (this seems to be the new trend in MMOs since mimicking EQ / WoW has been an over-saturated fail attempt).

If it takes some of the better ideas from sandbox environments and keeps the game team focused to a large degree (about 80% of FFXI) then this game may be something special.

I signed up for the beta a while back. I wont touch FFXI anymore, but XIV sounds like it could be promising if the changes actually come through as they say.

It looks promising, but I just have trouble getting into fantasy based pre-animated move type combat. I wanna aim my shit.

"Looks" Well ya, that was the worst preview video ever. The dude was just standing around half the time like he was doing something else, not even focused on making it.

No, he was quite literally doing other things. You could see him tabbing through windows, hear the ding noises... doing everything but showing the game in any decent manner.

The game is in the first few alpha phases. Supposedly from what the reviewer has said, mostly he is still testing stuff while running the video, the servers also seem to only be up for one day at a set amount of hours at a time. So I guess until that changes we are only going to get the videos of him testing certain things.

The quality of the game looks amazing though for something that is going to also be running on the PS3. What we do know doesn't need to be shown, open class system, more character oriented content, but still a heavy focus on team play (my favorite part).

My point still stands. He made a video to show people the game then doesn't really even bother. There are plenty of other videos that do much better.

I prefer my videos to be raw and not straight up clips of awesome events... So my point (opinion) still stands as well.
