Battlefield Bad Company 2

Since MO was down last night, Bronsig and I both pre-ordered Battlefield Bad Company 2 since it let you into their 'beta' which last until the end of the month. Its a pretty sweet game so far with an impressive amount of destructible terrain. I was also impressed by not only the graphics but also the audio. Anyhow, was just wondering anyone else has been playing this game? Maybe get a few of us together on a server one of these nights!

I got into the PC beta when it came out (free key from a friend

). I only had the chance to play it for like 5 minutes, since the first evening the servers and the game was very unstable for many people.

I hear it's better now, but they still have a lot of stability, compatibility, optimization and also game balance issues to work out. Since I got my new PC up and running I might try it over the weekend, if I'm not too busy.

What I don't like is that DICE said that they had separate teams working on the PC and the console versions of the game. When this beta launched it became pretty obvious that this was untrue, since the PS3 beta has been running well for quite some time, yet the PC beta is very buggy. Yes, of course, the hardware/software compatibility issues make PC beta's harder to do, but if they really had worked on the PC version as much as they did on the console version, it would have been much better.

So yeah, it's another console port, but I guess we all have to come to terms with the fact that these days most games are developed for the consoles and later ported over to the PC. All we can do is hope that DICE can do a decent job with the porting...

I don't have an amazing Graphic Card but I do have a decent one GT 8800 512 MB and it runs well at this point (the beta). I do have to turn some of the settings down so I do not get 2 fps durring huge explosions though. All in all its a blast so far.

Vehicles are king in this game though, I perfer squad/infantry tactics versus vehicle warfare personally. But two capable people in a tank can do a lot of damage specially with the desctruble environment in this game. However, a couple of people with C4 and a rocket launcher can take out said tank.

I can't wait until release to play with you guys, having a squad full of capable people would be epic fun in this game.

I can't stand playing FPS games with a ping of over 70... so yeah.. you can find me on the central/eastern EU servers.

I always get dragged into these games via my lovely friends. Like the game a lot so far... maybe the C4 bit is a bit too much on the objectives but it gives some more strategy at times.

What bothers me the most is the lack of functionality in the menus. The inability to sort the server list, the non-functioning friends list, and the lack of integration with Steam are all quite frustrating. This makes meeting up in the Beta a royal pain right now. Nevertheless, I expect these features will be functioning/turned on at release.

Otherwise, the gameplay is essentially what you'd expect from a DICE Battlefield game. The new features like destructible environments and ability to spawn on squadmates are great but it's still distinctly Battlefield. This is definitely a good thing considering so many irrelevant comparisons are being made to the Call of Duty games.

Anyways, I'll be playing the Beta quite a bit I imagine; especially now that Starvault announced the Feb.22 content/combat revamp patch.

Is there a channel on the mumble server dedicated to non-MO discussion?

Yeah with those new changes not coming until next week, I see myself playing more BFBC2 mostly. Are they're any particular servers that people are currently playing on since the friends options aren't working?
