I'm way behind in replying, but I was wondering what you thought of FFXI. I've read quite a bit about it and actually considered trying it before I found out about Mortal Online. Just wondered what you thought the strong/weak points are.

FF XIV is coming out... supposed sequel to 11...
rather play MO tho... I've heard FF is also a major grindfest.

FFXI is a HUGE grind. It's insanely group based to the point of forced groups to get anywhere. You'll hear people say there are some 'solo' classes, but you have to group your ass off to get to it in the first place.

And at this point, almost everyone has a job at 75 (or 80 whatever the hell the cap is now), if not all of them. So you'd end up power leveled, miss out on content, the storyline, and everything else that was good about the game. Not to mention how elitist the community was for me. If you don't have the very best equipment and food to + your stats, you might as well not bother looking for a party.

Still 75...FFXI was an interesting MMO experience mixing JP with EU/US. Back when I played it was an insane grind and even with a constant group took a good month to max out one job. I remember my guild trying for the 60 second Kirin kills back in the day. Think our best was like 73 seconds before they nerfed kings. You can level quick now though. They have nerfed everything and you dont have to camp kings for gear anymore. They have instance type things you can go into my friends told me about.

If he's talking about whatever the hell they called the 'past' where you go out and defend forts.. yea it's nice, but you get xp based on the amount of whatever you do, so if you're low level it doesn't do you any good.. but it atleast makes it possible.

They have that things so that people can scale their levels back to play with friends and such as well, but I am talking about those instances they have where you can go in and kill bosses for the same loot you would get off kings instead of having to compete for spawns. That was really the only fun in the game IMO and it's basically gone since the econ in the game crashed.

FF14 on the horizon for 2010 btw...Also online for PS3 and PC

Oh, dunno anything about this 'kings' stuff. Ah well, either way I won't play 14 either probably.. Hopefully MO is still holding strong. :P

God we can hope. I won't play 14 unless MO fails and I end up playing with the guys I used to play WoW and FFXI with. Sad day Rath...Sad day
