Pvk ii
i would recommend everyone that's been playing AoC or has SDK source to download PVK II as well. i know some people don't like it so much, but the combat is a bit more advanced than AoC, and i have a feeling if henrik tried it, he would say it is similar to MO's combat.
the upsides:
- it's faster combat than AoC and when you hit people, you actually hit them every time, whereas AoC seems to have a problem with this at times and other similar problems
- you can charge and hold your attacks and wait to release them like you will be able to in MO
- there are directional attacks AND directional blocks, and i believe MO will do it the same way, where you have to move a direction using WASD to select the direction
- there are a ton of empty servers for us to play on and hopefully get some good practice for MO without having to go up against guys that have been playing for years that will slaughter us
- there are also special moves that add a little more to the combat
the downsides:
- the pirates are kinda lame and very out of place, since they have guns and explosive barrels, etc
- no stamina bar
- the objectives aren't quite as fun (but again, the combat is a bit more intense)
anyway, i'd like to get some people to practice with me.. i think it'd be good to prepare us for MO. i just played and i did decently, but not nearly as well as i should have. i think henrik did so well because he came from a more advanced system (MO) into a less advanced system (AoC), so hopefully we can play both AoC and PVK2 and get a feel for a variety of different systems.

The pirates really annoy me, and as you say feel out of place in this game. Other than that it can be a lot of fun if you can get on the right server.

yeah the pirates are totally gay. they have guns, explosives, and they can send their birds to attack you for them. i wonder if there'd be a way for us to start our own server where you could disable pirates, although i seriously doubt it.
another thing i noticed that bothered me is that you can run backwards almost as fast as you run forwards.. that means archers and pirates can basically run away from you WHILE shooting you.
it's kinda lame to play with other people, but i think if we played amongst ourselves, it would be a little better.. maybe we could set some ground rules like no using the parrot. the explosives are fine i guess, since they're kinda like exp pots from UO. the guns... well i suppose those could be seen as magic or something. i'm trying to see how this would compare to MO, and right now the biggest differences i can imagine would be no stamina, being able to run backwards fast as fuck, and the auto-attacking parrots.

I'm not too fond of the game, mainly due to the pirates, but I am willing to give it another go. As you said, the combat system is more advanced and might be more similar to MO.

I just played in Rathius' server a few minutes ago and its a lot better if nobody plays as pirates. I think we can practice in both servers and improve our skills for MO. I think both games are pretty good practice for MO.

I've recently downloaded PVKII to my PC and I can tell you that it's the only game i've been playing since then. This game doesnt aim for much realism, thus it has those pirates. Personally I dont have a problem with them since every class is balanced atleast decently and you just need to know how to counter certain classes. I mean come on! those bowmen have way more powerful ranged weapons than pirates . you can kill skirmisher in 3 hits and you can pretty much slash that annoying parrot in 1 hit. I honestly believe that it's diversity that makes this game more fun. Im all for us trying out this game together. Cant wait to bash you with my huscarls shield

Um, I prefer AoC better, partially because this kinda feels more like you can swing wildly and get away with it. For example, I played as that viking guy with the dual wield swords, and you can just kinda blindly swing around and do pretty well.
Plus, pirates are lame. But, I do like their explosive barrel. Although it can be majorly cheap.
When all is said and done, I prefer AoC because:
-AoC takes more skill, imo
-AoC has better objectives
-AoC feels a bit more controlled.
-Stamina, stamina, stamina
However, I prefer the following in pvkII:
-Actual coll detection(or so it feels like it)
-Directional attacks + blocking
-Doesn't take itself to seriously.
-Lots of maps (or so it seems).
This is my opinions after just playing it today. So yeah.

Well you wont survive long enough swinging wildly with berserker. Youll get perfect parried by decent player and go down pretty fast

It felt hacky to us because of how we were playing that, but the directional blocking takes most of that out. If you go to a server with other players than us, if you try the stuff we were pulling you'd probably get rocked pretty badly. All you have to do as another player to stop berserker spam is to block upward. You'll get a perfect parry every time if they are running toward you because they are attacking with their "upward" swings.
