Dark Age of Camelot + Thanks

Yo mortals.. and dutch people,

Many of you might have played this one before, but I wasn't able to play Dark Age of Camelot for whatever reason a few years back. I can't remember why but I must've been a twat or something.

Just to give you some well constructed critique: It r0x!

I played DAoC for 6 and a half years. I put more playtime into that game than any other game in existence. In fact, probably more than any two games that I have every played, maybe even 3... My Healer was a hair from RR12 when I quit. Had a few other RR9-10's that I played on and off. All in all, the best PvP game ever, bar none.

As a side note. Save yourself. The game has lived it's days. Going to it now, for the first time, would be torture. There are rumors that they scrapped a project to bring back a server like the original servers, called 'Origins', to focus on making something 'better'. IMO they are currently making Dark Age of Camelot 2 (probably under another name). Those of us that played DAoC thought Warhammer would be DAoC2, but we were SADLY mistaken. The best thing for EA Mythic to do would be to make an updated DAoC, with all the features of the original game, with the upgrades of the Next Generation gaming Era. They have the experience, knowledge, and potential to make the best game in a decade or more...

The game's PvE would earn the 'Worst in Class' sticker for modern MMO's. Even 9 years ago it was terrible. There are VERY few quests to level, there aren't many dungeons and such for leveling. Beside the fact that years ago there was virtually NO ONE leveling. The only people leveling were guilds and people with dual accounts out in some of the super level 50 grind areas. They would just power level alts.

Not to mention the fact that the Master Level encounters, which require full groups, are doubtfully EVER done anymore. Also, everyone in DAoC had a second account with an alternate character that had buffs to cast on their mains. The buffs are 'concentration' based, and not on timers. So a single 'buff' character could sit at the main keep and fully buff up three characters. I actually ran 3 accounts, a Shaman for all the sick Str/Con and Dex/Quick buffs as well as a Healer for Armor and Celerity (attack speed) when I was on my melee toons.

It just really isn't worth the headache anymore. There aren't even really enough people playing to make siege warfare very fun anymore. When there are, it is just a bunch of huge zergs of people running around killing each other. Zergs are no fun, the old 8-man team vs. 8-man team battles were fun as hell.

I see. It sounds a lot like a mixture of WoW and Planetside.

The interface is making me sick.

I'll try Fallen Earth now =), but I'll probably continue DAoC later.
